Student Engagement

The Institute for Politics and Global Affairs is committed to offering experiential opportunities for Cornell students to engage in activities that bolster their academic programs and career interests.

Virtual Summer Internships (New)

The Institute has identified a number of opportunities for students looking for a virtual internship in summer 2020. We are connecting undergraduate students with U.S. government offices on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. or political offices and campaigns in New York State. We are also offering placements for policy-based research with Cornell faculty.

Interested students are encouraged to provide some basic information about your interests and qualifications and we will contact you if we know of opportunities that might be a match.

Undergraduate Scholars Program (Upcoming)

The Institute seeks to provide a signature experience for a diverse interdisciplinary cohort of students with a passion for engaging with the most pressing political and policy-relevant questions of the day. Toward this end, the institute is creating a year-long Undergraduate Scholars Program.

The program plans to recruit a cohort of undergraduate students from across colleges – including but not limited to Arts & Sciences, Agriculture and Life Sciences, Human Ecology, and Industrial and Labor Relations – that address questions of politics and policy from multiple perspectives.

Scholars will be identified through a competitive recruitment process. Stay tuned for details, coming in August 2020.

Student Ambassadors in Ithaca

Our undergraduate student ambassadors assist our leadership and staff with the day-to-day operations of institute activities. This program typically runs during the fall semesters.

Students interested in the ambassador program should email the institute to express their interest and timeline.
